Many people are curious about the benefits of CBD for heart health, and there is a great deal of interest in the use of natural alternatives to the pharmaceutical treatment of heart and circulatory issues.

While no studies have conclusively proven that CBD is effective as a method of treating heart disorders, there is a great deal of evidence which indicates that it may be highly beneficial. Maintaining good heart health includes the reduction of inflammation, the reduction of high blood pressure, the promotion of better arterial elasticity, and the function of the heart itself. These are all subjects of on-going studies, some of which have provided promising findings in animal subjects.

The anti-inflammatory effect of CBD is well-known, and in addition to the purely physical symptoms of inflammation, CBD also assists with reducing stress, regulating mood, and relieving pain, all of which contribute to an inflammatory response in the body.

Another factor that significantly affects heart health is blood pressure. Elevated blood pressure, or hypertension, causes the narrowing of arteries, heart enlargement, and over time, may lead to aneurisms – a rupture in an artery which can be fatal.

A study conducted in 2017 found that a single dose of CBD administered to a cross-section of volunteers significantly reduced blood pressure, and that improving heart health with CBD may be a viable method of supplementing conventional hypertension treatment.

Heart health is intricately interconnected with the health of the cardiovascular system, and with the well-documented ability of CBD to relax arteries and veins, this translates into a direct benefit to the heart as well. A 2013 study in the British Journal Of Clinical Pharmacology demonstrated that CBD has the ability to reduce arterial inflammation, strengthen and elasticize arterial or vein walls, minimize incidences of stroke, and even protect against the damaging effects of diabetes on the circulatory system.

Heart ailments can range from mild issues such as minor heart arrhythmia to life-threatening heart attacks. All of these conditions are influenced and aggravated by factors like hypertension, inflammation, and hardened arteries – factors that are positively affected by CBD. There is also no evidence that the use of CBD produces any harmful side effects, which means that it is generally very safe to use.

If you suffer from heart disease, or are taking any related medication, we recommend that you consult with your healthcare practitioner before taking CBD for heart health.
